![]() Brent Smith told The Pulse Of Radio that even though the band really came together on that last effort, they didn't want to rest on their laurels while making "Amaryllis". "Amaryllis" arrived in stores almost four years after the band issued "The Sound Of Madness". SHINEDOWN performed two songs - "Bully" and "Unity" - on the March 26 episode of ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". This marked the first Top 10 album of the band's career. SHINEDOWN landed the biggest debut of its career in July 2008 when its third album, "The Sound Of Madness", sold 50,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at No. "Amaryllis" sold 106,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. _Amaryllis_ retains all of the qualities that make Shinedown what it is today and gives listeners and fans of the band sounds that may sound new to them. The release of SHINEDOWN's fourth studio album, titled "Amaryllis", was accompanied by an e-book called "For Your Sake: Inside The Making Of Amaryllis", a 75-page, "completely interactive" e-book that contains commentary, photos, video footage and other content exclusively chronicling the creation of the new record.Ī two-and-a-half-minute video clip in which SHINEDOWN frontman Brent Smith walks fans through "For Your Sake: Inside The Making Of Amaryllis" can be seen below. ![]() But the band does well in new territory by making the song both easy to listen to and easy to sing along with. The song is a piano ballad, which generally isn’t what you think of when you think of Shinedown. “I’ll Follow You” is a change-up for Shinedown. “Nowhere Kids” almost sounds like Guns ‘N Roses or Slash playing with Myles Kennedy. “Nowhere Kids” is similarly heavy, but the feel of the two songs are different because you can tell “Enemies” was influenced by a more modern rock sound, as opposed to “Nowhere Kids,” where you can tell it has a late ’80s, early ’90s influence. “Enemies” is a heavy song that will make you want to head bang and blare it out of your speakers as you are driving. You can hear a steady melody throughout the song and the song shifts very well from section to section. It’s another listener-friendly song but it has a lot of things going on instrument-wise. The title track “Amaryllis” is interesting because it uses an acoustic sound in the intro, which gives it a lighter sound than what is on most of the album. This song will probably be the most recognized song on the album, even though there are other songs on the album that top this track like “Amaryllis” and “Enemies.” It has that stereotypical rock sound that you would hear on the radio, which doesn’t mean that it is bad. Shinedown then plays “Bully,” which begins with a heavy riff and then uses a lighter sound for the verse. ![]() This sounds like it would also work well being the first song at a concert just to get the audience pumped and excited. It is very upbeat and sets the tone for the rest of the album. The album begins with the song “Adrenaline,” which, as its title suggests, gets your adrenaline pumping. Shinedown has been known for making songs that are easy to enjoy, and _Amaryllis_ shows that it is continuing this trend.
